Description
Each Sunday from sunrise to sunset, a temporary memorial appears next to the world-famous pier at Santa Monica, California. This memorial, known as Arlington West, a project of Veterans For Peace, offers visitors a graceful, visually and emotionally powerful, place for reflection. Each cross represents military personnel who've lost their lives in the US war and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. Visit http://www.arlingtonwestsantamonica.org/ for more info.

What was this commemorating? Was it 9-11, was in Afghanistan, Iraq? Veterans Day? If we knew, then it would be more powerful.

Thanks for your question, Megan. Each cross represents military personnel who've lost their lives in the US war and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. I just added this info to the description. Thanks again for inquiring further...
